As of now we have 32 members without power. The crews are working in the areas below. Northern District:

• Old Bucktown – As of this morning, some of the roads still had trees and vehicles blocking passage. Crews are working there now.

Headquarters (Jasper):

• Burnt MTN Rd. and Bent Tree – Roads in these areas were still icy and that has delayed restoration to a couple of locations. Crews are working there now.

Our crews have made a lot of progress today, and we are currently down to 1257 members without power at 38 locations.  There are 56 members out in Gordon, 382 in Gilmer primarily in the Bucktown area and the  White Pen/Pleasant Valley Road area.  In Pickens County, we are down to 819 members still out. These are located mainly in the Bent Tree, Grandview, Price Creek Road areas, where there was extensive damage, many trees down and many broken poles.

We will continue working and estimate that all power will be restored within the next 24 hours, if not sooner.  Thank you for your patience and please remember to stay away from any downed power lines.

Amicalola EMC serves over 52,000 locations in parts of ten north Georgia counties which include Bartow, Cherokee, Dawson, Fannin, Forsyth, Gordon, Gilmer, Lumpkin, Murray and Pickens counties.  Our service area is spread across 1100 square miles.

We continue to work in challenging circumstances including freezing temperatures and very slick and hazardous roads.  The current outage count has gone down to 1574 members at 58 separate locations.  Pickens County still has 1205 without power, primarily in the Price Creek, Grandview and Bent Tree areas.  Gilmer has 271 and Murray and Gordon have scattered outages.

We are expecting to make excellent progress today.  Thank you for your patience as we work to restore power to everyone just as soon as is safely possible.

Crews continue to work to restore power from the high winds that took down trees and power lines across much of our service area.  Currently, we have 2097 members without power.  These outages are in Pickens with 1417, Gilmer 418 and small scattered outages inBartow, Cherokee, Gordon, Lumpkin and Murray.

As of now we have 3358 members currently experiencing a power outage at 77 separate locations.  Crews have determined there are at least 10 broken poles in Pickens County and 11 in Gilmer; we expect those numbers to increase.

Our goal is to restore all power as soon as is safely possible but we do not have an estimate of time at this point. As long as the wind does not pick back up, we should be able to make good progress tonight and tomorrow, but high winds are forecast throughout the day tomorrow.

As we continue to work hard to restore power, we are now down to 5455 members without electricity

We already had several contractor crews working alongside Amicalola EMC crews and more resources are arriving to assist in power restoration. Crews now arriving are from two sister EMCs Flint Energies in central Georgia and Satilla EMC in south Georgia, 5 additional crews from PIKE Electric, 2 crews from Mastec and 2 RealTree right of way crews.

We appreciate the willingness of these crews to leave their homes and travel here to aid us in power restoration. All power will be restored as soon as is safely possible, but with widespread damage like this we know it will be time and labor intensive. Thank you for your patience!

Winter Storm Update

As of now we have 9867 consumers out of power. We currently have 5 broken poles in Pickens County and 1 in Gilmer County. We expect that number to rise. Crews are working in the below areas.

As the winter storm and high winds continue, our outages have risen to 12,538. Pickens currently has 4358, Gilmer 3224, Lumpkin 2345, Dawson 1819, Cherokee 421, Gordon 381 and Bartow 1. Please use caution and stay off the roads if possible. We’ve had reports all across our service area of downed trees and downed power lines. Stay away from any downed power lines and always assume they are still energized. All Amicalola EMC crew members are out working as well as the contractor crews that have been brought in. The damage is widespread and all restoration work will be done just as soon as is safely possible.

As high winds reached our service area, outages began being reported around 3:00 a.m. The wind has brought down trees onto power lines, breaking some poles in the process.

We currently have 8179 members out of power at 68 locations.  Cherokee has 172 members without electricity, the two largest being in the Fincher Road area and the Fletcher Drive area.  A crew is assigned and will move across this county making repairs.  Dawson has 2205 members out primarily in the Rock Chimney Lane and Pine Tree Drive areas, which is near the Lumpkin County line.  Crews are assigned to both locations. Gilmer has 739 members without power, mainly in the eastern part of the county. Gordon has 45, Lumpkin 1786 near Bailey Waters Road and Rock Chimney Lane. Pickens 3232 in the north eastern part of the county near Young Life, Denny Ridge and Sassafras Mtn.  There is also an outage in the Camp Road/Mineral Springs /Road area, as well as smaller outages across the county. Crews have been assigned to these areas.  When repairs are completed at these locations, the crews will move to other areas that need restored.
