EMC/FFA Career Development Event

The EMC/FFA Electrification Contest, part of the Georgia Department of Education’s Agricultural Education division, is organized through local FFA chapters and sponsored by Amicalola EMC and the electric membership corporations of Georgia. Participating high school students can win scholarship funds to use at any college, university or vocational school in Georgia.

The contest reinforces electrical wiring as taught in the vocational agriculture education program and expands the student’s grasp of electric energy and the role of the EMCs in Georgia’s energy future. The competition also helps students develop skills in electrical wiring, critical thinking, and effective communication. Most notably, the competition gives students an experience not readily available in most classroom settings. Since 1968 Georgia electric cooperatives across the state have hosted local practice sessions for this event.

For information on the EMC/FFA Career Development Event, contact the local high school chapter of FFA or call Stacey Fields, Amicalola EMC – Director of Public Relations at 706-253-5287.
