Amicalola EMC Hosts 2024 Area Wiring Contest
January 24th, 2024 – Amicalola EMC hosted the Area 1 EMC Event at our facilities. High school students from the area competed in wiring, problem solving and speech demonstration. We want to extend congratulations to Creekview High School’s representative, Aaron Dickson, and Pickens High School’s representative, Wyatt Richards, for placing 1st and 2nd. It was a pleasure to host all of the participants and their advisors at Amicalola EMC’s headquarters in Jasper, GA.
The EMC/FFA Electrification Contest is part of the Georgia Department of Education’s Agricultural Education division, and is organized through local FFA chapters and sponsored by the electric membership corporations of Georgia. Students who participate can win scholarship funds to use at any college, university or vocational school in Georgia. This contest reinforces electrical wiring as taught in the vocational agriculture education program., and expands the student’s grasp of electric energy and the role of the EMCs in Georgia’s energy future.

Stay Weather Aware!
Stay #WeatherAware!
*A Wind Chill Advisory has been issued for portions of North and West Central Georgia starting tonight into Saturday morning – wind chill values near zero degrees are expected.
*Minimum temperatures Saturday morning and Sunday morning are expected in the teens.
*Wind gusts up to 30 MPH can be expected Friday after the cold front moves through.
*Remember the 4 P’s – People, Pets, Pipes, and Plants. Check in on your neighbors and make sure they are prepared. The prolonged period of sub-freezing temperatures will bring the threat of frozen pipes. Cover exposed pipes and keep at least one faucet dripping.
The Church, located at 127 Sanders Street, is open through Monday morning for warming, hot meals, and a place to rest.

Celebrating 25 years of Operation RoundUp!
January 2024 marks the 25th anniversary of Amicalola EMC’s Operation RoundUp. Last night the board met and celebrated this important milestone. To date our Operation RoundUp program has awarded $2.5 million dollars to non-profits and qualifying individuals in the community.
Where do these funds come from? The contribution is from the members of Amicalola EMC and participation is 100% voluntary. When you join Operation RoundUp your electric bill is rounded up to the next dollar each month. The average co-op member donates approximately $6 a year. It may not seem like much, but when more members participate the money begins to add up and the opportunity to make a difference increases.
Last night, as we passed around thank you notes from past recipients, it was clear to see #RealHeroesRoundUp so thank YOU for your contribution to this cause!
Ways to join or apply:
To join call 706-253-5200 or visit our website at https://www.amicalolaemc.com/my-community/operation-round-up/ to access the sign up form.To apply for help through Operation Roundup you may visit https://www.amicalolaemc.com/my-community/operation-round-up/ and complete the application that applies to you.

Critical Connections: How Electricity Gets To You
Electricity plays an essential role in everyday life.
We’re proud to be your local, trusted energy provider. From the time it’s created to the time it’s used, electricity travels great distances to be available at the flip of a switch. That’s what makes the electric grid our nation’s most complex machine–and one of our nation’s greatest achievements.
