Crews are continuing to battle and we are now down to 5560 members. This is remarkable considering the damage to our system that occurred just slightly over 2 days ago, including 2 confirmed tornadoes that touched down in Pickens County and straight line winds in other areas.
Help continues to arrive as they are released from other and utilities and we are thankful to welcome crews from Okeefenokee EMC, Volunteer Electric, Satilla EMC, Tri State EMC and Tallapoosa Electric in Alabama. Several additional PIKE Electric crews have also been secured.
Power must be restored to the main lines before it can be restored to lines beyond. Our broken pole count has now exceeded 70, and replacing so many poles has slowed restoration from a typical tree on the line kind of outage.
