Outage Update – Thursday, May 9, 2024 11:00 AM

As storms have continued to move through our service area this morning, we have received some images from Roy Road in Ellijay. In storms of this nature, with hundreds of trees and tree limbs blown down, restoration will first involve clearing trees from roadways so crews can get in to see the damages.  Once trees are cleared off the power lines, lines can be put back up and broken poles can be replaced. We have the following details regarding the broken poles that have been reported thus far:

  • Roy Road/52 Area – at least 3 broken three phase poles, with reports of more, and multiple spans of wire down with multiple large trees on the line.
  • Chatsworth Highway has multiple large trees on the line with at least 1 broken three phase pole.
  • 1 single phase pole is broken with just a few meters still out around the Turner’s Corner area.

Currently we have 8,977 members affected, of those 6,605 are in Gilmer County. Thank you for your patience as our crews work to safely restore power. You can view outages here.
