Widespread power outages on Saturday caused by snow accumulation

Amicalola EMC experienced widespread scattered power outages on Saturday, Feb. 8 in nine of the ten counties served by the electric cooperative, primarily caused by trees and tree limbs on power lines due to the weight of snow accumulation. There were a total 1467 members who experienced a power outage.  Pickens County had a total of 76 members without power during this time.  In addition, Gilmer County (793 members out) and Lumpkin County (478 members out) experienced the highest number of consumers without power.  Two broken poles had to be replaced in Gilmer County.

Amicalola EMC line crew members worked throughout the outage, as well as two contract crews that were called in to assist in power restoration.  We appreciate the patience of our members.
