Outages are occurring due to heavy rains and high winds

January 12, 2023 4:00 pm

We are currently experiencing widespread, scattered power outages across our service area due to the heavy rain and winds bringing trees down on power lines.  Currently, we have 1554 members out of power.

So far, we know we have a broken pole out Hwy 52E in Gilmer County across from the food pantry, lines down at Crippled Creek Lane in Gilmer County, and a tree on the line at Salacoa and Reinhardt College Parkway.  The outages are primarily small, currently involving 47 separate locations.

Crews are working in all the main outage areas.  In addition to our crews, we have Pike line crews working as well.

Important reminder:  Never go near a downed power line; always assume they are still energized.  Should you experience a power outage or see downed lines or other noteworthy circumstances you need to report, please call one of our outage numbers: 706-253-0359 OR 706-276-0359 OR 706-864-0359. This allows the information to be captured directly into our outage management system.

While we will post periodic updates on our social media sites, it is important to remember they are not monitored for outage reporting.  The most efficient way to relay information to us is through the outage management system.

Our crews will have all power restored as soon as is safely possible.  Thank you for your patience and please be careful during the remainder of the afternoon as this stormy weather moves through.
