Amicalola EMC was created on February 10, 1940. Thanks to the hard work and cooperation among farmers, rural residents and business leaders in our community, the lights came on for the first time in 1941. Eighty one years later, we are still lighting the way for rural north Georgia. Our original leaders probably never imagined how far we would come, but today we provide electricity and related services to over 51,000 locations in portions of ten north Georgia counties: Bartow, Cherokee, Dawson, Fannin, Forsyth, Gilmer, Gordon, Lumpkin, Murray and Pickens counties. And we do it affordably – our rates are below the state average and below the local investor owned utility. When you flip that light switch today, say a word of gratitude for the Amicalola EMC electric pioneers who paved the way to improve the quality of life for all of us. Thank you for allowing us to provide your home or business with reliable, affordable and safe electricity.
