Amicalola EMC responds to threat of coronavirus (COVID-19)

(Jasper, GA – March 16, 2020) Amicalola EMC continues to monitor the threat of the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). We remain focused on the health, safety and well-being of our members, our employees and the communities we serve.
Amicalola EMC has taken steps to lessen the impact by limiting public access to the office lobby in all locations effective today, March 16 for a period of up to two weeks. We have also limited access to other areas of our facilities, but are allowing deliveries of supplies and materials that are required to perform normal business operations.
During this two week period, all disconnections of service due to nonpayment have been suspended. In addition, no late fees will be added to accounts. “At Amicalola EMC, we realize how much our members depend upon electricity and the vital role that electricity plays. We also realize the financial burden and stress that preparing for a situation like this can cause. We believe we are doing our part to help ease that burden by taking these steps”, says Todd Payne, President & CEO.
“We urge our members to take advantage of the digital resources we offer like online bill pay. More information may be found on our website and our Facebook page. We are focused on the needs of our members and, as always, we stand ready to address any power interruptions that may occur” adds Payne. Employees of the electric cooperative have been urged to take steps to stay healthy by following CDC protocol on hand hygiene and other directives. Members may obtain information on ways to stay healthy by visiting www.cdc.gov.
