AEMC 2024 Youth Awards Banquet
Last night we hosted our annual Youth Awards Banquet at Chattahoochee Technical College and celebrated some outstanding students from Cherokee, Dawson, Gilmer, Lumpkin and Pickens counties. Amicalola EMC gave away a total of 136 $1,000 scholarships to 2024 seniors. In addition, we recognized our 2024 Washington Youth Tour winners who are pictured below. From left to right: Stacey Fields, our Director of Public Relations, Farah Jones (Pickens High), Tlung Mang (Dawson County High), Addyson Poole (Gilmer High), Deacon Shull (Gilmer High), and Todd Payne, our President and CEO. These four high school juniors will represent Amicalola EMC this summer as they travel to Washington, D.C. on an all expenses paid trip of a lifetime! These four were also awarded a $1,000 scholarship, bringing the total amount awarded to $140,000.

Help Us Celebrate “$4 for 4-H”
The number four is an important symbol to the 4-H organization, but did you know just how symbolic it is? An “H” in each leaf of the four-leaf clover logo represents the tenants of the pledge: head, heart, hands, and health. April 4 marks the fourth day of the fourth month of the year. On April 4 we celebrate the “$4 for 4-H” donation campaign. Counties receiving at least four donations will turn green on a Georgia map that is updated throughout the day. We plan to participate and we hope you will join us! -

Today we celebrate Ag Day and the first day of spring! It is also Georgia Agriculture Awareness Week, and this year marks the 150th anniversary of the Georgia Department of Agriculture serving the people of GA. This week is set aside to celebrate Georgia farmers and their contributions to our state’s #1 industry. Want to join in? Pole inspections taking place in Juno area of Dawson County
Amicalola EMC, and other utility companies, routinely perform power pole inspection and maintenance programs. This is done to reduce replacement costs, extend the life of the poles and to increase the safety and reliability of the electric system.
Starting now and continuing for the next couple of months, pole inspections will be taking place in Dawson County. Inspections will begin in the Hwy 183 area toward Dawsonville.
The work is being conducted by McCulloch Utilities. A sign identifying them as a “Contractor for Amicalola EMC” will be visible on the vehicles.
Maintenance projects like these help us keep the lights on. Amicalola EMC members should not be inconvenienced in any way. Please contact Member Service at 706-253-5200 for more information.

Welcoming Panda Express to our community
We enjoyed supporting our newest member, Panda Express, in Jasper, GA for their ribbon cutting and grand opening this morning. This new location features an updated store design, known as Panda Home. Panda Express is a family-owned and operated company committed to supporting the communities it serves. Through their Neighborhood Fundraisers Panda Express donates 20% of pre-tax event sales, however today Panda partnered with our local Boys & Girls Club and will donate 50% of those pre-tax dollars to the club. -
