Energy Efficiency Tip of the Month
Lengthen the life of your clothes dryer with regular cleaning. Clean the lint filter after every load, which improves air circulation and safety. Check the lint trap opening to ensure it’s clean. Use a vacuum to remove any lint that’s fallen inside the opening.
If you use dryer sheets, check the lint filter for residue buildup. Remove any residue with hot water and a nylon brush or toothbrush. Over time, dryer sheets can leave a film on the filter, which can affect the performance of the motor.

Amicalola EMC Hosts 2024 Area Wiring Contest
January 24th, 2024 – Amicalola EMC hosted the Area 1 EMC Event at our facilities. High school students from the area competed in wiring, problem solving and speech demonstration. We want to extend congratulations to Creekview High School’s representative, Aaron Dickson, and Pickens High School’s representative, Wyatt Richards, for placing 1st and 2nd. It was a pleasure to host all of the participants and their advisors at Amicalola EMC’s headquarters in Jasper, GA.
The EMC/FFA Electrification Contest is part of the Georgia Department of Education’s Agricultural Education division, and is organized through local FFA chapters and sponsored by the electric membership corporations of Georgia. Students who participate can win scholarship funds to use at any college, university or vocational school in Georgia. This contest reinforces electrical wiring as taught in the vocational agriculture education program., and expands the student’s grasp of electric energy and the role of the EMCs in Georgia’s energy future.
