Amicalola EMC Holds Annual Task Force Banquet
Last night Amicalola EMC held the annual Task Force banquet at Chattahoochee Technical College in Jasper. Close to 100 consumer members from across the AEMC service area gathered together to enjoy a meal and listen to remarks from our Board Chairman Charles Fendley, CEO Todd Payne, Georgia House of Representatives Johnny Chastain (R) – District 7 and Rick Jasperse (R) – District 11, and Georgia State Senator Steve Gooch (R) – District 51.The Amicalola EMC Task Force has served as a voice for the cooperative since 1972. The role of the Task Force is to help educate others on key issues relating to the EMC.Special thanks to Shade Tree Barbeque for a the delicious meal, and Southern Belle Florist and Gifts for the beautiful center pieces. -

Amicalola EMC’s Operation RoundUp Awards Grants
This July the Amicalola EMC Operation RoundUp board awarded a total of $18,150 to local non-profits and qualifying individuals. The organizations that received grants were Appalachian Mountain Scottish Rite Assoc., Boys & Girls Club of North Georgia, Creative Enterprises Dawson, Georgia Mountain Food Bank, Good Shepherd Clinic of Dawson County; Goshen Valley, Lamp Ministries, Meals by Grace, Pickens County Schools, R.M. Moore Elementary School STEM and the Service League of Cherokee County.Co-op members who participate in Operation RoundUp contribute, on average, $6 annually. Even though the individual donation seems small, when combined, Operation RoundUp can make a real difference in our communities. The real heroes… that’s YOU. We are down to 40 outages affecting 777 members. Thank you for your patience as our guys have worked throughout the weekend to restore power from two severe thunderstorms that hit our service area roughly 24 hours apart. Outage Update – August 18, 2024
We are down to 1604 members out, across parts of 6 counties. Right now, there are 3 larger outages in the western portion of our service area. 2 in Pickens in the Talmadge area and one just over the Gordon County line.
We were getting fairly close to restoring all power yesterday evening, when more storms came through taking another 6000+ meters with it. Some of the crews were able to work through the night and we are getting 10 more contractor crews in today to assist.So far, we have identified and replaced most of the 16 broken poles we’ve found in the following areas:

Outage Update – August 17, 2024
Our guys have worked through the day, making progress on yesterday’s storm damage. Now another storm system is moving through our service territory. Reports of high winds and heavy rainfall have caused downed trees and downed power lines. Currently, we have over 6,000 members without power and that number is on the rise. Thank you for your patience, and we ask that you continue to be patient as our crews work to get the lights back on as soon as is safely possible.
