During March of
2010, Amicalola EMC awarded five $1,000 scholarships to high school
seniors from counties in the Amicalola EMC service area. Three $300
scholarships were also awarded to high school seniors chosen to
represent Amicalola EMC in the statewide Walter Harrison Scholarship
competition. The Walter Harrison Scholarship competition is a
statewide competition, administered by Georgia EMC, giving these
students a chance to win an additional $1000.
Scholarships were
awarded based upon financial need, grade point average, and SAT/ACT
scores. Students receiving scholarships must be high school
seniors and live in an Amicalola EMC household. Students must have
been accepted into an accredited program, either full or part time.
Scholarships may be used toward any two-year or four-year accredited
college, university, or technical college.
The deadline for
the 2012 competition is January 20, 2012.
